Over the course of his career, Arthur Bryan Cooper has served as a supervisor for ABC Accessories, the owner of a landscaping company, and the owner of Art’s Café. Active in his local community, Arthur Cooper volunteers with the YMCA.
As part of its focus on safety and fitness for children, the YMCA operates a nationwide The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program. Because children are naturally curious, they are drawn to bodies of water such as pools. The YMCA Safety Around Water program teaches essential water safety skills over the course of eight 40-minute lessons. In a typical session, children learn skills to help increase their comfort in water and practice key sequences such as “Swim, Float, Swim” that can help keep them safe if they find themselves in the water unexpectedly.
The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program also encompasses swim lessons for children of all ages. Swim Starters lessons teach babies as young as six months key swim readiness skills, while Swim Basics helps children continue to increase their confidence and competence in the water. Swim Strokes teaches stroke techniques to older children, adolescents, and adults, contributing to overall fitness and well-being.
